look, just because you once saw a movie that continually exaggerated the real methods to tricks, doesn’t an expert make
besides, the only version where the bird dies was the one where the birdcage is visibly flattened on the table. This resembles the method where the bird survives.
the bird dies. the cage, has the ability to become flat. with the bird in it. the string pulls it in his sleave, the cage flattens, and the bird dies. that is how it works
the big give away is the fact that he holds the cage very close to his body, then he EXTENDS his arms making the bird cage.

yeah.. that’s what i thought of too… and the vanish seems obvious… because his hands are on the cage… if there’s a hand at the back, top, bottom, front and sides… then the only way out is through his sleeves… people always assume that magicians vanish things from their sleeves but forget about it when it seems to be the most obvious
